Victoria Film Festival 2010
Festival of Fear Q&A

Richard hosted a very special night with director John Landis at the Victoria Film Festival on February 4, 2012 at the Vic Theatre (808 Douglas St.)! Before a screening of Landis's classic comedy The Blues Brothers (the "quote along" version) the two discussed Landis's long career, including naming everyone who "killed" him when he was a stunt man (the names include Henry Fonda and Toshirō Mifune!), Mussolini, why Donald Sutherland isn't $36 million richer, working with John Belushi, why he didn't want Chevy Chase in "Animal House" and the making and myths of "The Blues Brothers." You should have been there. More info here! And here! And here!

The good folks at empireonline have devised a series of symbols to help us better understand the confusing new jargon Hollywood is inventing to rename their old ideas. Interquel, anyone? See the whole thing here!

"Once again Daniel Radcliffe finds himself butting heads with the supernatural. No the Death Eaters and Lord Voldemort haven’t come back to haunt him, but a certain forlorn female ghost has. It’s not quite “Harry Potter Meets the Woman in Black,” but it’s almost as entertaining..."

EXCITING! Check out the Metro Weekender in Toronto, Halifax, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver on Friday to read Richard's new movie column! Every Friday Richard and Yuk Yuk's founder and comedy guru Mark Breslin will discuss the weekend's biggest releases! This week they have a look at "The Woman in Black"! "Mark, I really like haunted house movies and as haunted houses go, this is a doozy. It’s remote, old and rambling. Doorknobs turn by themselves, faces appear in windows and there are stuffed monkeys and creepy Victorian children’s wind-up toys everywhere. With toys like this to play with it’s a wonder Victorian kids weren’t scared half-out-of-their-minds all the time. Did this movie creep you out?.." Read the whole thing here!

Read Richard's Metro column on what makes a hero super in the movies! "What does it really take to become a superhero? Wikipedia simply defines a superhero as “a type of stock character, dedicated to protecting the public.” What? No mention of capes or crazy gadgets? I guess because there are so many types of superheroes, Wiki decided to keep the definition vague..." Read the whole thing here!

Read Richard's Metro interview with "The Woman in Black" star Daniel Radcliffe! He discusses how to deal with rabid fans and how he is getting better as an actor everyday! “As I said to you, when I’m at home, smoking a cigarette and it’s cold and I’m in my Canada Goose jacket eating half a pizza, those are the moments you have to take a picture of yourself and play it to yourself when you are on the red carpet and go, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, you’re not all that, really.’” Read the whole thing here!

Watch Richard's Q&A from the Canadian premier of "The Woman in Black" with star Daniel Radcliffe! They discuss the effect the movie has on audiences, why he chose this as his first post-Potter project and take questions from the audience! Watch the whole thing here!

Read Richard's Metro interview with W.E. star Andrea Riseborough! "Actress Andrea Riseborough has no time to be intimidated by co-workers, even when they are world-famous icons. “Making a movie is no small feat,” she says, “and there is so little time and you can enter into something being paralyzed by fear or you can just experience it...” Read the whole thing here!
