NEWSLETTER: CINEPLEX CELEBRATES TITANIC 20TH ANNIVERSARY!

Check out the new Cineplex newsletter at Cineplex.com. Richard writes about the 2oth anniversary of one of the most popular movies of all time.

“These days Hollywood routinely thinks in terms of billion dollar grosses. That’s billion with a b. In 2016 the movie biz broke records, raking in north of $11.4 billion and in the last two years eight movies have cracked the billion-dollar threshold.

“In 1990s, however, those numbers were a rarity. Jurassic Park stomped all over its competition in 1993 but it took the story of a sinking ship to float to the very top of the box office. For a good chunk of the Clinton years (Bill, not Hillary) Titanic, James Cameron’s lush romance-disaster, celebrating its twentieth birthday at Cineplex in February, was, as Empire noted, “the planet’s favourite film…” Read the whole thing HERE!

From today’s issue: The Songs of Life! “We all have a few of those songs. You know, when you hear those first few notes and you’re instantly transported back to time when you probably still felt comfortable in a bathing suit or had lots more hair?  Today on Canada AM, we talked about those defining songs – songs that served as a backdrop to your meaningful moments, or songs that changed the way you thought about yourself. For Bev it was Paradise by the Dashboard Light.  For Marci, Janet Jackson’s Control. For Richard, it was any track off My Aim is True by Elvis Costello. For Denise, I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston Lots of you shared your songs with us on Twitter and Facebook, and it was so fun to walk down all of our memory lanes. Appropriately, the first song I ever remember taking into my heart… In My LIfe by the Beatles. Have a great weekend everyone!” – @amproducerjen

Every week, Richard Crouse stops by to tell you what movies are worth seeing, and to talk about the watercooler moments of the week. However, today he came in to talk about something that could save your life. Most people are not aware that over the past few months, Richard has been treated for colorn cancer. He’s doing well and his prognosis is good, but he wanted to share his story with you to make sure that everyone gets tested. Richard is a private person, and he hasn’t shared his story with a lot of people. I am so incredibly proud of him for coming forward to help raise awareness, and to help spread the message that cancer is beatable, so don’t be afraid. Just get tested. Thank you, Richard. Be well, my friend. – AM Producer Jen
